Our Charter
The inaugural and on-going charter of Eastern FM is to promote local community events and non-profit services for the benefit of all in our service area mixed with a wide variety of good music. Click on the link to view a copy of the current rules (pdf format).
Our coverage
Eastern FM is local community radio licensed to serve Melbourne's Eastern Municipalities, broadcasting to Maroondah, Whitehorse, Manningham, Knox and Yarra Ranges. Our high quality stereo signal reaches most of these areas well but a good antenna will improve reception in difficult areas.

History
The concept of a local radio station in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne goes back to a few influential local identities in 1974.
A committee was formed to lobby the government of the day to see this far-sighted vision to fulfilment.
This patient group waited 16 years and mounted 17 test broadcasts before a licence was granted late in 1990. Eastern FM went to air full-time on 23rd February, 1991 with an outside broadcast from the Croydon Festival.
Eastern FM is now part of the community, with its daily format of pleasant easy listening music and 24 hour operation providing top-rate entertainment and information for everyone.
Personnel
Every presenter at Eastern FM is a volunteer who supports and enjoys the challenge of operating a local radio station.
Most presenters are multi-skilled in on-air talents and have personal music libraries from which to draw programs.
We are a friendly bunch of enthuasists who relish the opportunity to entertain and inform our community through the miracle of FM radio.
Finance
The fiscal life blood of the station comes from two areas; membership subscriptions and sponsorships.
Membership of Eastern FM is open to anyone who is interested in maintaining our local information and entertainment facility. There are many benefits of membership including discounts at some of our sponsors' establishments, the social side of belonging to a group, having a say about the running of the station, etc.
Per annum membership subscriptions are:
• $30 for individuals
• $45 for organisations
• $45 for family memberships
• $20 concession
Sponsorships come in the form of paid advertising which is limited to just 5 minutes in any hour.
